Supply chain finance – also called reverse factoring or payables finance – is a relatively new and dynamic form of international financing. It has been growing rapidly in size in recent years, and has established itself as a viable financing solution next to more traditional forms of working capital financing.
Supply chain finance is often mistakenly treated as lending or factoring, and its specific characteristics are not sufficiently recognised. As many market participants, including large corporates, SMEs, banks and fintechs, get engaged in supply chain financing activities, there is growing demand for understanding the ins and outs of this solution and its possibilities.
This course addresses the fundamental principles of supply chain finance, common and exotic transaction structures and related risks for its participants. A wide range of aspects of general property law and private international law will be also discussed.
Upon completion, you will enhance your knowledge of the fundamental principles and typical structures of supply chain finance. You will also be aware of relevant market, legal and case law developments, and be familiar with the legal mechanics of supply chain finance.
This course will be interesting to legal as well as treasury, accounting and other professionals involved in structuring and reviewing supply chain finance programs.
The course will cover the following themes:
- the fundamental principles of supply chain finance
- transaction structures
- risks and benefits for the parties
